Cheesy Christmas cookies - the ultimate festive treat and ideal for gifting!
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups Gold Medal™ self-rising flour
  • 3/4 cup cold butter, cut into pieces
  • 2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese (8 oz)
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground red pepper (cayenne)
  • 3 tablespoons ice water
  • Salted toasted pecan halves, if desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 400°F. In a food processor, combine flour and butter until it resembles coarse meal. Then add cheese and red pepper and pulse until combined. While the food processor is running, slowly add water until the dough forms a ball.
  • On ungreased cookie sheets, spoon out dough using a tablespoon, leaving 2 inches of space between each. Flatten each cookie with the bottom of a drinking glass and delicately press one pecan half into the center of each cookie.
  • Bake for 12 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool for 2 minutes, then transfer from cookie sheets to cooling racks. Store the cookies in an airtight container once completely cooled.
