Party-perfect Cheeseburger Garbage Bread: Bacon, cheese, and pickles rolled in pizza dough, baked to golden perfection, and sliced into beautiful spirals.
Ingredients:
  • 6 slices bacon, sliced into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 cup diced red onion
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt, or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • pinch cayenne
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 8 ounces sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded, divided
  • 1 pound prepared pizza dough (please add links, see note)
  • 1/2 cup diced dill pickles or dill relish
  • 1/3 cup sliced green onions
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter, or beaten egg (see note)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Instructions:
  • Fry bacon in a nonstick skillet over medium heat until crisp, around 5 minutes. Place bacon on a paper towel-lined plate to drain, and reserve. Keep the pan as is, no need to clean it.
  • Place onions and a pinch of salt in the pan with the bacon grease over medium-high heat. Sauté until onions soften and turn golden-brown, about 3 to 4 minutes. Add beef and cook, breaking it up into small crumbles with a spatula, until browned, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Season the beef with salt, freshly ground black pepper, cayenne, and Worcestershire sauce, cooking until the beef is browned and liquid has evaporated.
  • Remove the pan from the heat. Mix in the crispy bacon, 2 tablespoons of ketchup, 1 tablespoon of mustard, and half of the shredded Cheddar cheese. Allow the mixture to cool down to room temperature for approximately 15 minutes before proceeding.
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and elegantly line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Gently shape the pizza dough into a 10x15-inch rectangle, adding flour as necessary to prevent sticking.
  • Spread the meat mixture evenly over the dough, ensuring to leave 1 1/2 inches of dough uncovered on both short sides and the edge closest to you. Leave about 2 1/2 inches uncovered on the opposite edge.
  • Sprinkle chopped dill pickles and green onions over the beef, then evenly add the remaining cheese on top. Moisten the long edge of the dough with a little water to help seal the roll.
  • Enclose the filling by folding the dough over from both sides, then roll up tightly from the bottom, ensuring the ends are sealed. Stretch the dough slightly as you finish rolling with the seam on the bottom.
  • Place the roll onto the prepared sheet pan. Brush it with melted butter or a beaten egg and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 35 minutes, until the beef is well browned and the fat begins to leak out.
  • Combine mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, dill pickle, and green onions in a small bowl and whisk to make the "Secret Sauce".
  • Place the dish on a cooling rack and allow it to rest for 20 to 30 minutes. Enjoy your meal with a side of our special "Secret Sauce."
