Cheeseburger-inspired casserole: pasta shells filled with beef & ricotta, topped with Cheddar sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (12 ounce) box jumbo pasta shells
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 (32 ounce) container ricotta cheese
  • 0.5 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 0.25 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 (16 ounce) jar double Cheddar pasta sauce (such as Ragu®)
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can Italian-style diced tomatoes, drained
  • 2 tablespoons shredded Cheddar cheese
Instructions:
  • 1. Boil generously salted water in a large pot. Add pasta shells and cook until al dente, about 12 minutes, remembering to stir occasionally. Drain well.
  • In a hot skillet, sear ground beef with onion, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic until golden brown, about 5-8 minutes. Remove any excess grease.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, mix ground beef, ricotta cheese, 1/2 cup Cheddar cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stuff each pasta shell with 1 to 2 tablespoons of the mixture.
  • Combine the pasta sauce and water in a bowl.
  • Begin by generously layering a third of the savory sauce on the base of a spacious baking pan. Next, add half of the luscious tomatoes atop the sauce. Carefully place the stuffed shells on the tomatoes. Finally, drizzle the remaining sauce and tomatoes over the shells, then cover everything with aluminum foil.
  • Bake in a hot oven until bubbly, approximately 40 minutes. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of Cheddar cheese on top, uncover, and bake until melted, around 10 minutes.
