Whip up steak and pepper hoagie sandwiches with melty cheese in no time!
Ingredients:
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 medium onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 red bell peppers, thinly sliced
  • 2 lb beef top round (about 1 1/2 inch thick), cut lengthwise into paper-thin strips (Ask your butcher to slice the beef. However, if you prefer to slice it yourself, freeze the beef 30 to 60 minutes or until it’s firm but not frozen to make it easier to slice.)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 6 hoagie buns, split
  • 1 1/4 cups cheese dip (from 15-oz jar)
Instructions:
  • In a 10-inch skillet, warm up 1 1/2 tablespoons of oil and 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat until sizzling. Add the onions and bell peppers. Sauté for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they turn golden brown and tender. Take the skillet off the heat and transfer the onion mixture to a separate bowl; set aside.
  • Season beef evenly with salt and pepper. In the same skillet, add the rest of the oil and butter over medium-high heat. Cook one-fourth of the beef for 1 to 2 minutes, flipping once, until browned. Remove beef and repeat with the remaining batches.
  • Add the cooked beef back to the skillet with the onions and bell peppers, then mix in the Worcestershire sauce. Distribute the beef evenly onto the bottom halves of the buns and top each with 3 tablespoons of cheese dip. Finish by placing the top halves of the buns. If your cheese dip is cold, transfer it to a microwavable bowl and heat on High for 10 to 20 seconds until warm.
