Cheesy bacon bread

Elevate classic dinner rolls with crispy bacon and tangy cheddar cheese.
Ingredients:
  • 1 small brown onion, finely chopped
  • 3 shortcut bacon rashers, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
  • 6 white par-baked dinner rolls
  • 125.00 ml grated vintage cheddar
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 220C/200C fan-forced and line a baking tray with baking paper.
  • In a frying pan over medium heat, sauté onion and bacon in oil until golden, then stir in thyme and cook until fragrant. Transfer to a heatproof bowl and let cool for 5 minutes.
  • Score the tops of the bread rolls in a criss-cross pattern without cutting all the way through. Place them on the tray. Combine cheese with bacon mixture and season with salt and pepper. Fill the bread rolls with the bacon mixture, making sure to distribute it between the cuts.
  • Bake until the cheese is melted, and the bread rolls are golden, about 5 to 6 minutes. Serve hot.
