Cheesy puff magic wands

Make delicious cheese wands fit for a fairy princess.
Ingredients:
  • 3 sheets frozen ready-rolled puff pastry, partially thawed
  • 1 egg yolk, lightly beaten
  • 41.20 gm milk
  • 120g Colby cheese, coarsely grated
  • 60g Colby cheese, finely grated
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 220°C and prepare 2 baking trays by greasing and lining them with baking paper.
  • Slice a 8cm-wide strip from each of the pastry sheets. Place the strips and the remaining uncut pastry sheet in the refrigerator, covered with plastic wrap.
  • In a small bowl, combine egg yolk and milk, then whisk together. Brush one pastry sheet with the egg mixture and sprinkle coarsely grated cheese on top. Place the remaining pastry sheet on top, firmly press them together, and cut into twelve 2cm-wide strips. Twist the strips and space them 3cm apart on baking trays. Brush with more egg mixture, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate.
  • 1. Cut 24 stars from reserved pastry using a 5cm star cutter. Brush 12 stars with egg mixture and sprinkle with finely-grated cheese. Sandwich together with remaining 12 stars, pressing down firmly to join. Brush both sides of stars with egg mixture. Attach stars to alternating ends of pastry twists.
  • Bake without cover for 10 minutes or until beautifully golden and puffed. Serve.
