Crispy sausage roll skewers for a fun, handheld meal!
Ingredients:
  • 70g (3/4 cup) dried breadcrumbs
  • 75g (1/2 cup) plain flour
  • 500g lean beef mince
  • 100g (1 cup) coarsely grated mozzarella
  • 1 carrot, coarsely grated
  • 1 small brown onion, coarsely grated
  • 41.60 gm tomato sauce
  • 125ml (1/2 cup) olive oil
  • Tomato sauce, extra, to serve
Instructions:
  • Whisk the egg in a shallow bowl using a fork. On 2 separate plates, place breadcrumbs and 40g (1/4 cup) of flour.
  • Combine mince, mozzarella, carrot, onion, tomato sauce, and remaining flour in a bowl. Use your hands to mix thoroughly. Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and shape each into an 8cm-long sausage on a clean surface.
  • Roll each sausage in flour, removing excess. Dip in egg, then breadcrumbs, pressing firmly to coat. Insert an iceblock stick into each sausage. Chill in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  • 1. Preheat your oven to 200C while heating oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. 2. Cook half of the pops, turning occasionally, for 2-3 minutes until they are golden brown. 3. Transfer the cooked pops to a tray lined with baking paper and repeat the process with the remaining pops. 4. Bake the pops for 10 minutes or until they are cooked through. 5. Once done, transfer the pops to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil. 6. Serve the pops with extra tomato sauce.
