Chicken chow mein dinner bowl, knife-free eating reinvented!
Ingredients:
  • 350g packet fresh chow mein noodles
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 625.00 ml finely shredded red cabbage
  • 1 baby pak choy, thinly sliced crossways
  • 227g can sliced water chestnuts, drained, thinly sliced
  • 18.40 gm vegetable oil
  • 500g chicken breast stir-fry strips
  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 76.25 gm oyster sauce
  • 42.00 gm soy sauce
  • 40.00 ml shao hsing (Chinese rice wine)
  • 1/4 tsp ground white pepper
  • 2 carrots, cut into matchsticks
  • 125.00 ml bean sprouts, trimmed
  • 3 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 6.00 gm sesame seeds, toasted
  • 1 sliced long red chilli, to serve
Instructions:
  • Prepare the noodles according to the instructions on the packet. Drain the noodles and transfer them to a bowl. Drizzle half of the sesame oil over the noodles and mix well to coat.
  • Combine cabbage, pak choy, and water chestnuts in a bowl while you wait.
  • In a wok or large frying pan, heat vegetable oil and remaining sesame oil. Stir-fry chicken until browned, about 5 minutes. Add garlic, sauces, shao hsing, and pepper. Continue to stir-fry until chicken is cooked through and sauce thickens slightly, about 2 minutes.
  • Assemble noodles, cabbage mix, chicken mix, and carrot in bowls. Garnish with bean sprouts, green onion, sesame seeds, and chili. Enjoy!
