Delicious chocolate chip scones with a hint of orange, perfect for breakfast or tea time.
Ingredients:
  • 1.75 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 0.5 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
  • 3 tablespoons orange juice
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) while giving your baking sheet a quick spray with nonstick cooking spray.
  • In a big bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt, then use a pastry blender or a large fork to cut in butter until mixture looks like coarse crumbs. Add chocolate chips, then mix in orange juice until a dough forms.
  • Transfer the dough onto a floured surface. Shape into a 9-inch circle that is 1/2 inch thick. Use a 2 ½-inch fluted biscuit cutter to cut out 12 scones. Combine any dough scraps to shape the last few scones. Place the scones on the baking sheet.
  • Bake until golden brown in a preheated oven for about 12 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool.
