Create a special Father's Day treat with homemade chocolate-covered walnuts.
Ingredients:
  • 60g icing sugar, plus extra to dust
  • 120g walnuts, plus 15 walnut halves to decorate
  • 1/2 eggwhite
  • 200g good-quality dark chocolate, roughly chopped
Instructions:
  • Prepare the baking tray by greasing it and lining it with baking paper.
  • In a food processor, pulse icing sugar to ensure a smooth texture. Add walnuts and blend until fine. Pour in egg white and process until a smooth paste forms.
  • Coat your hands with a sprinkle of icing sugar and shape the mixture into petite walnut-sized balls, gently pressing them down. Chill in the fridge for 1 hour or until they are nice and firm.
  • Ask for adult supervision to melt the chocolate in a heatproof bowl over simmering water, ensuring the bowl doesn't touch the water. Stir until smooth, then let it cool slightly. Skewer each walnut round with a wooden skewer, dip into the chocolate to coat fully, and place on a prepared tray. Quickly top each chocolate-coated walnut with a walnut half before the chocolate hardens. Chill in the fridge for 30 minutes, or until set.
