Decadent chocolate and berry baked custard fusion with a touch of clafoutis and Dutch baby. Enjoy hot or cold.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups mixed frozen berries, thawed and drained
  • 3.5 ounces dark chocolate, chopped (such as Ghirardelli(R) 72% Cacao Twilight Delight bar)
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 0.25 cup sifted cocoa powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 6 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 1.5 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream
  • 0.25 cup sifted powdered sugar, or more as needed
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and generously butter a 9x13-inch pan.
  • Evenly spread the thawed berries and chopped dark chocolate over the bottom of the pan. Set aside.
  • Combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, salt, and cinnamon in a large bowl until fully mixed. Add eggs and whisk until smooth. Stir in melted butter, vanilla, and almond extracts. Slowly pour in milk and heavy cream while whisking continuously until blended. Pour batter over berries and chocolate in the pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until the center is just set and the sides are slightly puffed, about 25 minutes. Serve warm, at room temperature, or chilled, as desired. Dust with a generous sprinkle of powdered sugar before serving.
