Effortlessly create adorable ribboned gift boxes from simple bars. Perfect for quick and festive Christmas baking!
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 1/4 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons half-and-half or milk
  • Food color
Instructions:
  • Line an 8-inch square pan with plastic wrap. In a large bowl using an electric mixer, cream together all cookie ingredients except flour until creamy, scraping the bowl occasionally. Mix in the flour on low speed until a dough forms, scraping the bowl occasionally. Press the dough firmly and evenly into the pan. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Gently lift the dough from the pan using the edges of plastic wrap. Using a sharp knife, cut the dough into 64 squares, placing them on ungreased cookie sheets with 1-inch space between each.
  • Bake for 13 to 17 minutes, or until edges are lightly browned. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before transferring from cookie sheets. Then, cool completely for about 10 minutes.
  • Combine all frosting ingredients in a medium bowl (except food color) until smooth, adding half-and-half until desired spreading consistency. In a small bowl, mix 1/3 cup of frosting with food color until well blended and desired color; transfer to a small resealable plastic bag and partially seal.
  • Cover the cooled cookies with a layer of uncolored frosting. Then, with a small hole in the corner of a bag of colored frosting, pipe out the frosting on each cookie to create bow designs.
