Delicious make-ahead cinnamon apple strata: perfect cozy breakfast for fall and winter mornings.
Ingredients:
  • 2 apples - peeled, cored, and diced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon, divided
  • 4 eggs
  • 0.5 cup half-and-half
  • 4 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
  • 3 stale cinnamon bagels, cubed
  • 0.25 cup chopped pecans, or more to taste
Instructions:
  • Prepare the 8-inch square baking dish by greasing it.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, combine apples, butter, brown sugar, 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon, and salt. Cook until sugar bubbles, for about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Blend eggs, half-and-half, cream cheese, and the rest of the cinnamon in a blender until creamy.
  • Arrange cubed bagels, cooked apples, and pecans at the base of the greased baking dish. Then, pour over the egg mixture, ensuring the bagel cubes are fully soaked. Refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight before proceeding.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • Bake in the oven until all liquid evaporates, for 30 to 40 minutes. Serve the dish hot.
