Southern-style green beans simmered in savory broth with fatback for rich flavor.
Ingredients:
  • 4 (14.5 ounce) cans green beans, undrained
  • 1 cup water, or as needed
  • 2 ounces fatback, sliced into small rectangles
  • 2 cubes chicken bouillon
  • 1.5 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions:
  • In a large saucepan, simply pour the canned green beans along with their liquid. Add just enough water to cover the beans. Stir in fatback, bouillon, onion powder, garlic powder, seasoned salt, and pepper until everything is well combined. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  • Bring to a boil for 10 minutes, then lower heat and simmer for an additional 30 minutes.
