Create decadent layered cookies, ideal for gifting.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened baking cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cups quick-cooking or old-fashioned oats
  • 1 cup miniature candy-coated milk chocolate baking bits
  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 egg
Instructions:
  • Combine sugar, flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl. Transfer the mixture into a 1-quart jar with a secure lid, gently tapping it down. Finish by adding oats and baking bits on top, then cover the jar.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Combine jar contents, butter, water, vanilla, and egg in a large bowl. Mix for 30 seconds until well combined. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until edges are set. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before transferring to cooling racks. Enjoy your freshly baked cookies!
