Savory pork sausage gravy infused with aromatic herbs and a hint of spice.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound pork sausage
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons garlic, minced
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon minced fresh sage
  • 1 teaspoon minced fresh thyme
  • 2 cups milk, divided
  • 2 cubes chicken bouillon
  • 0.25 cup minced fresh parsley
Instructions:
  • Cook the pork, onion, green pepper, red pepper flakes, and garlic in a skillet over medium heat until the pork is crumbly. Drain off any excess fat, leaving a small amount in the skillet.
  • Incorporate butter, salt, and pepper into the meat mixture until the butter melts. Sprinkle flour over, mix gently, and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent burning. Remember to scrape the bottom of the pan and then add sage and thyme.
  • Gradually incorporate milk, half a cup at a time, stirring constantly until mixture thickens. Be careful not to let it boil too vigorously to prevent burning. Stir in chicken bouillon and cook for five minutes. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if necessary. Add more milk if mixture thickens too much.
  • Right before serving, sprinkle fresh parsley and pour in an additional 1/4 cup of milk to enhance the flavor and texture of the gravy as it thickens rapidly when cooling.
