Indulgent Cranberry Orange Gooey Butter Bars: Rich buttery crust, gooey filling. Perfect holiday dessert with tart cranberries, sweet buttery goodness, and fresh orange zest. An instant crowd-pleaser for years to enjoy.
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Yellow Cake Mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons grated orange zest
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, room temperature
  • 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 3 eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange zest
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen (thawed) cranberries
  • 1 cup cold heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • Sifted powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly spray a 13x9-inch baking pan with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Combine the cake mix and melted butter in the electric mixer bowl with the paddle attachment, mixing on low speed until just combined. Add the egg and 2 teaspoons of orange zest, then mix on medium speed for 1-2 minutes. Gently press the dough evenly into the lightly greased baking pan.
  • In a large bowl using an electric hand mixer, beat softened cream cheese and 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Slowly mix in 1/2 cup melted butter on low speed. Then add eggs one at a time, followed by 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1 teaspoon orange zest. Fold in fresh cranberries and spread over the cake base evenly.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes until the center is just set. Be careful not to overdo it. Allow to cool on a wire rack for a minimum of 2 hours before slicing.
  • Prepare a delicious whipped cream by combining heavy cream, 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract in the bowl of an electric mixer with a whisk attachment. Whip on high speed until fluffy with stiff peaks. Sprinkle powdered sugar on the bars and top them off with a dollop of the whipped cream before serving.
