Creamy cabbage and onion casserole with buttery egg noodles, baked to bubbly perfection for ultimate comfort food.
Ingredients:
  • 5 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 0.5 medium head cabbage, cut into 1-inch chunks
  • 1 large onion, cut into 1-inch chunks
  • 1 teaspoon Diamond Crystal® Kosher Salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 8 ounces dried egg noodles
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 325 degrees F and generously grease a 2-quart casserole dish with 1 tablespoon of rich butter.
  • In a large sauté pan over medium-high heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add cabbage and onions, season with 1 teaspoon of Diamond Crystal® Kosher Salt and 1 teaspoon of black pepper. Stir well, cover, and cook until cabbage and onions are soft, approximately 10 minutes.
  • Add flour and mix well. Cook for an additional 2 minutes. Gradually pour in broth and cream, then simmer until slightly thickened, approximately 2 minutes.
  • 1. Boil a large pot of lightly salted water. Add egg noodles and cook until al dente, about 5 minutes. Drain noodles.
  • Mix the cooked noodles with the cabbage mixture until well combined. Transfer the mixture to a casserole dish lined with parchment paper. Top with evenly spaced dollops of 2 tablespoons of butter.
  • Bake covered until the mixture is hot and bubbly, approximately 30 minutes.
