Quickly make a delicious coffee cake from scratch.
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 1/2 cups Original Bisquick™ mix
  • 3 medium baking apples, peeled, cut into eighths
  • 1 teaspoon powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds, toasted if desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 325°F and generously coat the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan with cooking spray.
  • In a big bowl, use an electric mixer to blend butter and granulated sugar until creamy for about 1 minute. Mix in eggs and almond extract on medium speed for around 10 seconds. Add Bisquick mix and beat on medium speed for about 30 seconds until well combined.
  • Evenly layer the batter in the pan, then gently press the apple pieces, cut side down, into the batter. Bake for 1 to 1 hour and 10 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the cake is golden brown.
  • Allow the cake to cool at room temperature for 30 minutes, then remove the side of the pan. Dust the top of the cake with powdered sugar and sprinkle with almonds. Serve the cake warm.
