Whip up a delicious homemade double-crust apple pie bursting with layers of cinnamon sugar and baked to golden perfection.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (14.1 ounce) package pastry for a 9-inch double-crust pie
  • 0.75 cup white sugar, or more to taste
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 6 cups thinly sliced apples
  • 1 tablespoon butter
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a piping hot 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
  • Place a single pastry crust into a 9-inch pie dish, reserving the second one for later use.
  • Mix together 3/4 cup of sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Adjust sugar according to the tartness of the apples.
  • Arrange the apple slices in the pie dish, generously sprinkling each layer with a delightful cinnamon-sugar blend.
  • Sprinkle top layer with small butter pieces, then cover with top crust.
  • Place the pie on the lowest rack of the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Then, lower the oven temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and bake until golden brown and filling bubbles, about 30 to 35 minutes more.
  • Enjoy this dish either warm or chilled.
