Savory beef stroganoff with mushrooms and onions served over creamy egg noodles for ultimate comfort.
Ingredients:
  • 4 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 6 ounces fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 (12 ounce) package egg noodles
  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 0.25 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions:
  • Assemble all ingredients.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Cook mushrooms and onion until soft, about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Transfer to a bowl without cleaning the skillet.
  • Fill a large pot with salted water and bring it to a rapid boil. Cook the egg noodles until al dente, about 7 to 9 minutes. Drain.
  • While the noodles cook, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned and crumbly, about 7 to 9 minutes.
  • Combine the flour and cook for 1 minute.
  • Pour in the broth and simmer until it thickens slightly, which should take around 2 to 4 minutes.
  • Stir in the mushroom mixture followed by sour cream, salt, and pepper. Heat the sauce without boiling, stirring occasionally, for 2 to 3 minutes, until hot.
