Cozy cavatappi pasta with hearty chili, ready in under an hour for a comforting meal.
Ingredients:
  • 2 quarts water
  • 0.25 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cavatappi pasta
  • 0.25 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 (15 ounce) can seasoned black beans, undrained
  • 0.25 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Instructions:
  • In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add salt. Add cavatappi to the boiling water and cook for 10-12 minutes until tender but firm. Drain and rinse cavatappi before using.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, sauté onion and garlic in olive oil until onion is softened, about 5 to 10 minutes. Increase heat to medium-high, add ground beef, and cook until browned and crumbly, about 5 to 10 minutes. Drain excess grease before continuing to cook.
  • Combine tomato sauce, chili powder, and cumin with the ground beef, cook until the tomato sauce is heated through. Add cavatappi pasta and stir until coated; mix in black beans and pepper. Cook over medium-low heat for 5 minutes to blend the flavors.
