Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 medium yellow bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
  • 2 teaspoons Montreal steak grill seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup (from 15-oz can) Muir Glen™ organic tomato sauce
  • 1 loaf (1 lb) French bread
  • 6 slices provolone cheese
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. In a large nonstick skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat. Add peppers, onion, and salt; cook for 14 to 18 minutes, stirring often, until onions are beautifully golden brown. Keep warm.
  • In a separate 10-inch nonstick skillet, cook the beef over medium-high heat for 6 to 8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned. Drain any excess fat. Add grill seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, and tomato sauce to the skillet. Bring to a simmer and cook for 4 to 5 minutes until heated through.
  • In a small microwave-safe bowl, microwave the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter until melted. Slice the bread in half lengthwise and hollow out a bit from the top and bottom pieces. Brush the bread with the melted butter and place cut side up on an ungreased large cookie sheet. Bake for 4 to 5 minutes until lightly toasted. Spread the beef mixture on the bottom half of the bread, top with cheese and peppers, then cover with the other half of bread. Cut into 12 slices and serve.
