Honey roast turkey stuffed with lemon, apple, potato, and onion, glazed with a delicious honey-butter for crispy, golden skin.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (10 pound) whole turkey - thawed, neck and giblets removed
  • 1 lemon, cut in half
  • salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 small apple, peeled
  • 1 small onion, peeled
  • 1 small potato, peeled
  • 6 ounces honey
  • 3 ounces butter
  • 1 cup chicken stock
Instructions:
  • After patting the turkey dry with paper towels, gently rub the skin with lemon halves. Season the skin and cavity with salt and pepper. Fill the cavity with lemon halves, apple, onion, and potato. Transfer the turkey to a snug roasting pan.
  • Combine honey and butter in a small saucepan over gentle heat until smooth. Pour over turkey, covering it entirely. Let it sit for 30 minutes, brushing with honey mixture intermittently.
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) to get it nice and toasty for your delicious dish.
  • Roast turkey in a preheated oven for 30 minutes, basting with pan drippings. Lower oven temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and continue roasting for another 30 minutes, basting regularly. Add chicken stock to prevent pan juices from drying out, if necessary.
  • Uncover the turkey during the last 15 minutes of roasting, ensuring it cooks for an additional 1 1/2 to 2 hours until no longer pink near the bone and the juices run clear. Use an instant-read thermometer to check that the thickest part of the thigh reads at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C). Baste the turkey with pan juices one final time.
  • Take the roasted turkey out of the oven, wrap it with a double layer of aluminum foil, and let it rest in a cozy spot for 15 minutes before carving.
