Delightful heirloom recipe, irresistibly sweet and refreshing, never enough!
Ingredients:
  • 4 fresh pears
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
Instructions:
  • Peel and thinly slice the pears. Toss the sliced pears with white sugar, brown sugar, and nuts, then let them macerate for one hour. Blend the macerated pear mixture until smooth.
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and prepare a 13x9 inch pan by greasing and flouring it.
  • Gently blend the flour, salt, and baking soda by hand until just combined. Mix in the dry ingredients with the pear mixture along with the oil, vanilla, and eggs. Transfer the batter to the prepared pan.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 1 hour and 15 minutes until beautifully golden and fragrant.
