Spiral burek from the Balkans: Phyllo dough filled with creamy feta and cottage cheese.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup feta cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 0.5 (8 ounce) package cream cheese (such as Philadelphia®), softened
  • 1 (8 ounce) package phyllo dough
  • 1 cup milk
Instructions:
  • Heat your oven to a toasty 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) and lightly grease a baking sheet.
  • Combine feta cheese, sour cream, cottage cheese, cream cheese, and eggs in a mixing bowl. In a separate small bowl, whisk together milk and oil.
  • Brush a luscious milk-oil blend over 3 delicate phyllo dough sheets and layer them gracefully. Spread the delectable cheese mixture in a neat line on one side of the dough. Roll up snugly to create a beautiful spiral. Gently move the enchanting spiral onto the baking sheet. Repeat this delightful process with the remaining milk-oil mixture, phyllo dough, and cheese mixture.
  • Bake the burek in the preheated oven until it turns a beautiful golden brown, which should take around 40 minutes.
