Simplify spooky Halloween treats with sugar cookie mix.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pouch (17.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ Sugar Cookie Mix
  • 1/4 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 7 drops green food color
  • 36 whole blanched almonds
  • 1/2 teaspoon red food color
Instructions:
  • Combine cookie mix, flour, melted butter, egg, almond extract, and green food coloring in a large bowl until a soft dough forms. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  • Coat almonds evenly with red food coloring by shaking them in a resealable bag. Place on paper plate or waxed paper to dry, then set aside.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F. Roll a heaping teaspoonful of dough into a 2 1/2-inch finger shape for each cookie. Place the shapes 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Place the almond, colored side up, at one end of each "toe" to resemble a toenail. Squeeze the dough slightly about 1 inch from each end of the "toe" and use a knife to create lines to simulate knuckles.
  • Bake for 6 to 8 minutes, or until just set without browning along the edges. Let cool for 1 minute before transferring to cooling racks. Allow to cool completely for about 15 minutes.
