Sauteed beef and broccoli in savory oyster sauce, perfect over fluffy white rice.
Ingredients:
  • 2 1 1/2-inch-thick New York strip steaks, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 teaspoons dried minced onion
  • 0.25 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 cups white rice
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 0.5 cup canned sliced bamboo shoots, drained
  • 0.5 cup canned sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 0.25 cup chopped green onion
  • 0.5 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 0.5 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 0.25 cup sugar snap peas
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 0.5 (10 fluid ounce) bottle oyster sauce
Instructions:
  • Combine steak, minced onion, garlic, and 1 tablespoon of soy sauce in a bowl, mixing well to ensure everything is evenly coated.
  • In a saucepan, cook rice and 4 cups of water over high heat until boiling. Lower heat, cover, and simmer for 20 to 25 minutes until the rice is tender and has absorbed the liquid.
  • In a skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Stir-fry bamboo shoots, mushrooms, 1/4 cup green onion, green bell pepper, red pepper flakes, and 3 tablespoons soy sauce until green bell pepper is slightly tender, for about 4 to 5 minutes. Add steak, broccoli, and sugar snap peas. Cook until beef is browned and no longer pink in the center, around 10 minutes.
  • Combine cornstarch and 2 tablespoons water in a bowl, whisk until smooth. Heat oyster sauce in a saucepan over medium-low heat, gradually add the cornstarch mixture and stir until sauce thickens, for 3 to 5 minutes. Mix oyster sauce into steak, add 1/4 cup green onions. Cook until sauce thickens, about 7 to 8 minutes. Serve over rice.
