  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 cup quick-cooking grits
  • 6 ounces shredded Cheddar cheese
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon butter

  • In a saucepan, bring chicken broth, milk, and 1 teaspoon of garlic to a boil. Stir in grits, lower the heat, and simmer until thickened, approximately 5 minutes.
  • Take the pot off the heat and stir in the Cheddar cheese until it's fully melted; season with salt and black pepper. Set the grits aside to keep warm.
