Simple apple sheet cake recipe using fresh homegrown fruit.
Ingredients:
  • 4.5 pounds apples - peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1.125 cups unsalted butter
  • 1.25 cups white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 2.75 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C), then generously grease a deep baking pan with butter or line it with parchment paper.
  • Combine apple slices and a splash of fresh lemon juice in a bowl, allowing the flavors to marry while you prepare the rest of the recipe.
  • In a large bowl, cream together butter, sugar, and vanilla sugar until pale and fluffy using an electric blender. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. In a separate bowl, gently mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Slowly fold apple slices into the batter.
  • Evenly spread the batter in the prepared baking pan and gently smooth the surface.
  • Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, approximately 30 minutes in a preheated oven.
