Delicious deep dish meat pie with savory potatoes, carrots, and peas in a flavorful gravy. Customize with lamb, chicken, pork, or beef. Perfect for leftover meats!
Ingredients:
  • 1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch single crust pie
  • 3 tablespoons margarine
  • 0.5 cup chopped onion
  • 1 potato, diced
  • 0.33333298563957 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1.25 cups beef broth
  • 1 carrot, chopped
  • 1 cup frozen green peas
  • 2 cups cubed cooked or leftover beef
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C) then roll the pie crust on a lightly floured surface into a 12-inch circle. Set aside.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt margarine. Add potato and onion, cook until onion is tender. Sprinkle in flour, stir well. Season with oregano, black pepper, and garlic powder. Pour in beef broth, add peas, carrot, and beef. Bring to a boil. Transfer to a 2 quart casserole dish. Place pastry over the top, cut slits for steam, and flute the edges.
  • Spread the mixture on a baking sheet and bake until the crust turns golden, for about 25 to 30 minutes. Allow it to rest for 10 minutes before serving to thicken.
