Elevate green beans with brown butter, pecans, and zesty lemon peel for a gourmet twist!
Ingredients:
  • 3/4 lb fresh green beans, cut in half
  • 2 tablespoons butter (do not use margarine or vegetable oil spreads)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped pecans
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
Instructions:
  • Place beans in a 2-quart saucepan with 1 inch of water. Bring to a boil and cook uncovered for 6 to 8 minutes until just tender; they should no longer be squeaky when bitten into. Drain and keep warm.
  • In a 1-quart saucepan, gently melt butter over low heat, ensuring it doesn't burn and turn bitter. Add pecans and continue to heat, stirring constantly, until the butter turns a golden brown color. If the saucepan bottom is dark, spoon a bit of butter onto a white plate to distinguish between brown and burnt butter more easily. Remove from heat promptly and drizzle the butter mixture over the beans, tossing to coat. Finish by sprinkling lemon peel over the dish.
