Prep Time:

Total Time:
1 hour 5 minutes
Spicy wings with a kick from red pepper, chili powder, and cumin.
Ingredients:
  • 12 chicken wings (2 1/2 pounds)
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano leaves
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons ground red pepper (cayenne)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • Sour cream, if desired
Instructions:
  • Shape the tips of the chicken wings under the opposite ends to create triangle shapes.
  • Combine all ingredients, excluding sour cream, in a sturdy resealable plastic bag. Seal the bag and shake well to mix the seasonings. Add the chicken, seal the bag, and shake until the chicken is evenly coated. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, but no longer than 24 hours.
  • Preheat grill for direct heat cooking.
  • Take the chicken out of the bag and grill it covered over medium heat for 20 to 25 minutes, positioned 4 to 6 inches away from the heat source. Remember to flip it after 10 minutes. Ensure the chicken is fully cooked by cutting into the thickest part to check that the juices run clear. Serve with a dollop of sour cream.
