Elevate your cocktail experience with a smoky and refreshing Grilled Grapefruit Paloma. Made with tequila, lime, agave, and soda, it's a quick and easy twist on the classic recipe.
Ingredients:
  • Canola or vegetable oil, for the grill grates
  • 2 medium ruby red grapefruits, sliced in half
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 medium limes
  • 1 cup (8 ounces) reposado tequila
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons agave
  • 1 teaspoon smoked salt, optional
  • Ice, for serving
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups (8 to 12 ounces) club soda
Instructions:
  • Preheat your charcoal grill to a sizzling medium-high heat of about 400°F. Make sure the grates are spotless. Using tongs, rub the grates lightly with a clean paper towel moistened with oil for a perfect sear.
  • Prepare the grapefruit: Sprinkle each cut side of the grapefruit with 1/2 teaspoon of sugar. Grill the grapefruit cut side down until juicy and caramelized, about 4 minutes. Chill on a plate in the fridge.
  • Prepare the drinks: Halve the limes and squeeze them to extract 1/4 cup (2 ounces) of juice. Keep the lime half with the most juice. Combine the lime juice, tequila, and agave in a small pitcher and mix until the agave dissolves.
  • For the glasses, sprinkle smoked salt onto a small plate. Rub the rim of 4 high-ball glasses with the squeezed lime half. Dip the moistened rims into the smoked salt. Fill each glass 2/3 full with ice.
  • Extract the juice from 3 grapefruit halves, reserving 1 half, until you have 1 cup of juice. Stir the juice in a pitcher. Slice the remaining grilled grapefruit half into slices or wedges for garnish. Taste and adjust seasonings remembering that club soda and ice will dilute the flavors.
  • Prepare the drinks: Pour the mixture into the glasses, adding 1/4 cup (2 ounces) of club soda to each glass according to your preference. Finish by garnishing with a piece of grapefruit and serve promptly. Enjoy the recipe? Please consider rating us and leaving a review!
