Grilled Italian Turkey Burgers

Boost burger juiciness with quick pasta sauce brushing before grilling.
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 lb ground turkey breast
  • 3 tablespoons tomato pasta sauce
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped red onion
  • 2 slices (1 oz each) mozzarella cheese, cut in half
  • 1/2 baguette (8 inches), cut into two 4-inch pieces
  • 2 lettuce leaves
  • 2 slices red onion
  • Additional tomato pasta sauce, if desired
Instructions:
  • Prepare the grill by brushing the rack with vegetable oil and heating it. Then, in a medium bowl, combine turkey, 3 tablespoons of pasta sauce, and chopped onion. Shape the mixture into 2 patties, each about 3/4 inch thick and shaped similarly to the baguette pieces.
  • Grill patties covered over medium heat for 12 to 15 minutes, flipping once, until a thermometer inserted into the center reads 165°F. Top with cheese, cover, and grill for an additional minute until cheese is melted.
  • Halve the baguette slices lengthwise. Layer bottom halves with crisp lettuce, juicy burgers, and thin onion slices. Top with the remaining baguette halves. Serve with extra pasta sauce for dipping.
