Simple and spooky Halloween buttermilk Bundt® cake with orange and black layers.
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons butter, or as needed
  • 2.25 cups cake flour
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup buttermilk, at room temperature
  • 0.75 cup butter, at room temperature
  • 3 eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons orange food coloring powder
  • 0.5 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon black food coloring powder
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease a Bundt® pan with 2 tablespoons of butter.
  • Combine flour, sugar, and baking powder in a large bowl. Incorporate buttermilk using an electric mixer. Blend in 3/4 cup butter until fully mixed. Stir in eggs and vanilla extract until the batter is smooth.
  • Divide the batter, mixing orange food coloring into 1/3 in a small bowl. Then add cocoa powder and black food coloring to the remaining batter in the large bowl. Mix thoroughly, ensuring to scrape down the sides.
  • Add the dark batter to the cake pan first, followed by the orange batter on top. Gently tap the pan on the counter to remove any air bubbles.
  • Bake in the oven until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, approximately 50 minutes. Let it cool for 15 minutes before taking it out of the pan.
