Buttery fried cabbage and onions with noodles, a comforting side dish ready in under an hour.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (16 ounce) package medium-wide egg noodles
  • 1 cup butter, divided
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 2 small heads cabbage, cored and cut into 1-inch pieces
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 300 degrees F (150 degrees C).
  • 1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a rolling boil. Add egg noodles and cook until al dente, about 5 minutes. Drain well and set aside.
  • In a large skillet over medium-low heat, melt 1/2 cup of butter until sizzling. Add onions and sauté until they turn translucent, about 5 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Combine cabbage and the rest of the butter with the onions, cooking and stirring until the cabbage is soft but not browned, about 5 to 8 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper.
  • Combine the cooked noodles and cabbage mixture in a large roasting pan, gently stirring to mix. Add extra salt and black pepper to taste.
  • Bake until the top turns a beautiful golden brown, for 30 to 40 minutes in the preheated oven.
