Transform ham and cheese sandwiches into a delightful egg bake for a crowd-pleasing brunch.
Ingredients:
  • 1 loaf (1 lb) French bread, cut into 1/2-inch slices
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 8 oz thinly sliced cooked ham
  • 8 oz thinly sliced Swiss cheese
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup Progresso™ plain bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
Instructions:
  • In a 13x9-inch (3-quart) glass baking dish, create a layer of bread slices, overlapping as needed. Brush the bread with mustard. Add layers of ham and Swiss cheese on top, overlapping as needed. Finish with another layer of bread slices to make sandwiches.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs and milk until smooth. Pour the mixture over the sandwiches and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, but no more than 12 hours.
  • In a small bowl, combine Parmesan cheese, bread crumbs, parsley, and butter. Set aside.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Sprinkle the crumb topping over the casserole and bake uncovered for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the sandwiches are puffed and golden brown.
