Irresistible pull-apart rolls with savory meat sauce and gooey Parmesan sliders are sure to please any crowd.
Ingredients:
  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • 5 cloves garlic, finely grated
  • 8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder, divided
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt, plus more for garlic butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, plus more for garlic butter
  • 1 (12-count) package Hawaiian slider rolls
  • 1 medium onion, diced (about 1 1/2 cups)
  • 24 ounces ground beef (85% lean)
  • 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste
  • 1 cup water
  • 8 ounces sliced low-moisture mozzarella cheese (about 8 slices)
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 425ºF. Line a baking sheet with foil and give it a light spray of nonstick cooking spray.
  • Prepare the garlic butter by combining butter, two-thirds of the minced garlic, 1 1/2 teaspoons of garlic powder, a pinch of salt, and a pinch of freshly ground black pepper in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until the butter is completely melted.
  • Split the rolls in half horizontally with a serrated knife, keeping them intact. Arrange them on a baking sheet and generously brush the insides with most of the garlic butter. Save the remaining garlic butter to brush on top of the rolls later.
  • Toast the rolls in the oven until golden brown and slightly dried out, about 5 to 7 minutes. Allow the rolls to cool while preparing the filling.
  • Prepare the filling: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté onions with 1/2 teaspoon salt until golden, about 5 to 7 minutes. Add remaining garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Increase heat to high, add ground beef, season with 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and black pepper. Cook until browned and moisture has evaporated, about 8 minutes.
  • Lower the heat to medium-high, then incorporate the tomato paste. Cook until the tomato paste thickens and deepens in color, stirring often, for about 5 minutes. Pour in 1 cup of water, mixing thoroughly, and then remove from heat.
  • Create the sliders: Spread half of the sliced cheese evenly on the bottom rolls, ensuring full coverage to protect the bread from becoming soggy. Add the filling over the cheese and layer the remaining cheese on top. Place the other half of the rolls on top. Brush the remaining garlic butter on the tops and bake until the cheese is melted and the sliders are golden, approximately 3 minutes.
  • Serve the sliders: Let them cool briefly, then tear or cut them apart. Serve while warm. Store any extras tightly covered in the refrigerator; they will stay fresh for 5 days. Reheat in the microwave for 30 seconds each, adding 15 seconds for more sliders. To reheat in the oven, bake at 350°F for 8 to 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and sliders are crispy and heated through. Show some love by leaving stars below if you enjoyed the recipe!
