Indulge in a wholesome breakfast of baked oatmeal and apples from Betty Crocker's Heart Healthy Cookbook!
Ingredients:
  • 2 2/3 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups fat-free (skim) milk
  • 2 medium apples or pears, chopped (2 cups)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • Additional fat-free (skim) milk, if desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Combine oats, raisins, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, 4 cups of milk, and apples in a 2-quart casserole dish.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes until most of the liquid is absorbed. Finish by sprinkling walnuts on top and serve with extra milk.
