Indulge in decadent toffee bar cookies for the perfect holiday treat.
Ingredients:
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts, if desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 13x9-inch pan. In a large bowl, combine butter, brown sugar, vanilla, and egg yolk. Mix in flour and salt until well combined. Press the mixture into the pan.
  • Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until crust is very light brown and soft. Sprinkle chocolate chips over hot crust and let it sit for about 5 minutes until chocolate is soft. Spread the chocolate evenly and sprinkle with nuts.
  • Let the pan cool on a rack for 30 minutes. Cut into 8 rows by 4 rows to make bars.
