Cook Time:
Wrap up succulent Asian chicken parcels to seal in all the delicious flavors.
Ingredients:
  • 117.98 gm honey
  • 42.00 gm soy sauce
  • 40.00 ml Chinese rice wine
  • 2cm piece fresh ginger, peeled, grated
  • 1 tsp Chinese five spice powder
  • 880g chicken thigh
  • 1 large carrot, peeled, cut into matchsticks
  • 1 medium lemon, thinly sliced
  • 3 green onions, thinly sliced
Instructions:
  • In a jug, mix together honey, soy sauce, rice wine, ginger, and five spice. Put the chicken in a glass or ceramic dish and pour the honey mixture over it, making sure to coat the chicken well. Cover the dish and refrigerate for 20 minutes to let the flavors develop.
  • Take out the chicken from the marinade. Place an equal portion of carrot and one chicken thigh on a piece of baking paper. Add a lemon slice on top and sprinkle with onion. Fold the baking paper to seal the ingredients inside and tie it with kitchen string. Repeat the process with the rest of the baking paper, carrot, chicken, lemon slices, and onion.
  • Set up a steamer over a pot of gently simmering water. Put the parcels in the steamer, with the seam side facing up. Steam with the lid on for 20 to 25 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked. Then, serve and enjoy.
