Glazed holiday ham with butter, red wine, honey, sugar, and pepper.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (12 pound) whole ham
  • 8 ounces butter
  • 2 cups honey
  • 0.25 cup red wine
  • 3 tablespoons ground black pepper
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • Score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern by making shallow, crisscross cuts. Transfer the scored ham to a roasting pan.
  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in honey, brown sugar, red wine, and black pepper until a glaze forms, cooking and stirring for about 10 minutes. Spread the glaze evenly over the ham, saving some to baste while roasting.
  • Bake ham in the preheated oven until internal temperature reaches 145 degrees F (63 degrees C, approximately 30-45 minutes), basting with glaze every 10 minutes.
