Savory herb bread with Italian seasoning and Romano cheese, perfect for both bread and pizza.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
  • 2 (.25 ounce) packages active dry yeast
  • 6 cups bread flour
  • 0.5 cup grated Romano cheese
  • 0.25 cup olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
Instructions:
  • Prepare your freshest ingredients.
  • Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl and allow the mixture to sit until it becomes foamy, which should take about 5 minutes.
  • Combine 3 cups of flour, Romano cheese, olive oil, salt, basil, oregano, garlic powder, and onion powder with the yeast mixture. Gently add the remaining 3 cups of flour until well combined; the dough will be firm.
  • Work the dough on a lightly floured surface until it becomes smooth and elastic, for about 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Transfer the dough to a bowl with a light coating of oil, ensuring the entire surface is covered. Cover the bowl with a damp dish towel and allow the dough to rise until it doubles in volume, approximately 1 hour.
  • Gently press dough to remove excess air, then form into two loaves. Transfer each loaf into a greased 9x5-inch loaf pan. Allow to rise until doubled in size, approximately 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • Once the timer goes off, transfer the loaves from the oven to the wire racks and allow them to cool for a minimum of 15 minutes before cutting into them.
