Elevate your sausage sizzle with these Japanese-inspired hot dogs featuring teriyaki beef sausages and spicy wasabi mayonnaise ready in 25 minutes.
Ingredients:
  • 60ml (1/4 cup) rice wine vinegar
  • 5.00 gm caster sugar
  • 1.20 gm salt
  • 2 French shallots, peeled, thinly sliced
  • 125g (1/2 cup) whole egg mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp wasabi paste
  • 4 Angus beef sausages
  • 60ml (1/4 cup) teriyaki sauce
  • 4 soft bread rolls
  • 1 Lebanese cucumber, halved, deseeded, cut into matchsticks
  • Pickled ginger, to serve
  • Thinly shredded toasted nori sheets, to serve
Instructions:
  • In a small saucepan, combine vinegar, 60ml (1/4 cup) water, sugar, and salt. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Pour the pickling liquid over the shallot in a small heatproof bowl and let it pickle.
  • In a bowl, mix together the mayonnaise and wasabi.
  • Heat a lightly oiled frying pan over medium-low heat. Cook sausages, regularly brushing with teriyaki sauce, until cooked through, for about 10 minutes.
  • 1. Cut rolls down the center without slicing all the way through. Drain pickled shallot. 2. Fill each roll with a sausage. Add pickled shallot, cucumber, and pickled ginger on top. 3. Drizzle with wasabi mayonnaise and sprinkle with nori.
