Crispy honey buttermilk fried chicken - juicy, flavorful, and irresistible.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1.5 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 (3 pound) broiler-fryer chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • peanut oil for frying
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a small bowl, mix flour, seasoned bread crumbs, Italian seasoning, salt, 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, paprika, and pepper until well combined.
  • Mix milk, egg, honey, lemon juice, and 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder in a shallow bowl until smooth.
  • Coat chicken pieces in flour mixture, making sure to cover all sides and shake off any excess. Dip coated chicken into egg mixture then back into the flour mixture. Place chicken on a plate and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  • Heat 1 inch of peanut oil in a deep-fryer or large saucepan until it reaches 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Fry chicken in batches until golden brown on each side, about 3 to 5 minutes. Use tongs to transfer chicken to a baking sheet.
  • Roast in the oven until the chicken is cooked through and the juices run clear, for about 30-40 minutes, or until a thermometer reads 165°F (74°C) when inserted near the bone.
