Delicate pastry tubes filled with sweet vanilla cream, perfect for a bridal shower - Lady Locks or cream horns.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup margarine
  • 1 pound cottage cheese, creamed
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 6 tablespoons marshmallow creme
  • 1 cup milk
Instructions:
  • Combine butter, margarine, cottage cheese, salt, and 4 cups of flour until a dough forms. Shape into a large square, cover, and refrigerate overnight for the flavors to meld.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Divide the dough into 4 equal parts. Roll out each part separately until it is about 1/8 inch thick, then cut them into 8-inch strips.
  • Place the filled tubes on aluminum foil-covered clothespins in the preheated oven and bake until golden brown, for approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Thicken milk and flour over gentle heat, stirring constantly until a creamy paste forms. Allow to cool fully before using.
  • Cream shortening and confectioners' sugar until fluffy. Mix in marshmallow cream and vanilla, then add cold paste and beat until smooth.
  • Pipe cream filling into tubes and dust with confectioners' sugar right before serving.
