No-boil make-ahead lasagna: soak noodles in sauce overnight, bake when ready.
Ingredients:
  • 1 lb mild bulk Italian pork sausage or ground beef
  • 1 jar (26 to 28 oz) tomato pasta sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 container (15 oz) ricotta cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
  • 1 egg
  • 8 oz uncooked lasagna noodles
  • 1 package (16 oz) sliced mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions:
  • In a large skillet, sauté the sausage over medium-high heat until cooked through. Drain any excess fat. Add pasta sauce and water, bring to a boil, then simmer on low for 5 minutes.
  • Combine ricotta cheese, fresh chives, oregano, and a whisked egg in a medium bowl.
  • In a 13x9-inch (3-quart) glass baking dish or lasagna pan, layer 1 1/2 cups of meat sauce. Add half of the noodles, ricotta cheese mixture, and mozzarella cheese. Repeat with 1 1/2 cups meat sauce, remaining noodles, ricotta cheese mixture, and mozzarella cheese. Top with the remaining meat sauce and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Cover and refrigerate for 12 hours or overnight before baking.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Bake uncovered for 50 to 60 minutes until the noodles are tender and the casserole is bubbly. Let it stand covered for 15 minutes before serving.
