Decadent rutabaga mash with crispy bacon is a flavorful twist on classic mashed potatoes.
Ingredients:
  • 3 slices bacon, chopped
  • 2 rutabagas, peeled and diced
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
Instructions:
  • Cook bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 10 minutes. Set aside bacon and save 1 to 2 tablespoons of bacon grease, as desired.
  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Boil rutabagas until very tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and return to the pot.
  • Combine the bacon grease, butter, salt, and pepper with the rutabagas and blend with an electric mixer until smooth. Fold in the chopped bacon.
