Enhance turkey with herb rub for savory flavor, baste for juiciness, and save pan juices for gravy or serving.
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons McCormick® Rubbed Sage or McCormick® Poultry Seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon McCormick® Paprika
  • 1 tablespoon seasoned salt
  • 2 teaspoons McCormick® Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon McCormick® Black Pepper, Ground
  • 0.75 teaspoon McCormick® Ground Nutmeg
  • 1 turkey (12 to 14 pounds), fresh or frozen, thawed
  • 1 large onion, cut into wedges
  • 6 McCormick® Bay Leaves
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F with the rack in the lower position. Set up the roasting rack in a shallow pan. Combine sage or poultry seasoning, paprika, seasoned salt, garlic powder, pepper, and nutmeg in a small bowl.
  • After rinsing the turkey and patting it dry, position it breast-side up in the pan. Sprinkle half of the seasoning inside the turkey and stuff it with onion and bay leaves. Brush the turkey breast with oil, then generously spread the remaining seasoning under the skin and all over the turkey. Pour 1/2 cup water into the pan and cover the turkey loosely with heavy duty foil.
  • Roast uncovered for an additional 2 to 2 1/2 hours until internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F (175 degrees F in thigh), basting with pan juices. Let turkey rest for 20 minutes, then transfer to platter to slice. Save pan juices for gravy or to drizzle over turkey.
